Detentions during the 8M march in Mexico City

Three women were arrested during the 8M march in Mexico City. Instead of advocating for women's rights, they were involved in assaults on several female protesters, stealing their cell phones and wallets. The agents of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of the capital were responsible for their capture.

The arrests took place in two separate incidents. The first occurred at the intersection of 5 de Mayo and Monte de Piedad streets in the Historic Center, where two women reported being assaulted. These victims claimed that their belongings had been stolen and pointed out two women who were trying to blend in among the protesters as the alleged perpetrators of the crime.

"In response to the reports, the agents approached the suspects, seizing a black bag that contained four cell phones. They also found two wallets with cash and documents belonging to the complainants, leading to the arrest of two women aged 25 and 28."

The second arrest took place in the same area, where SSC personnel apprehended a 29-year-old woman who was in possession of a wallet belonging to another person. The victim reported that moments earlier she had been assaulted by the arrested woman and another accomplice, who had stolen her belongings.

"The three detainees underwent security inspections following police protocols. They were informed of their constitutional rights and, along with the confiscated items, were presented to the authorities of the Public Ministry to determine their legal situation."

According to police records, the 25-year-old woman has a criminal record, with two admissions to the capital's penitentiary system in 2022 and 2023, as well as a presentation before the Public Ministry in 2023, all related to the crime of theft in various modalities.
